For a lot of people, the preparation behind a photoshoot is one of the most challenging parts. Coordinating outfits. Picking accessories. Doing hair and makeup. Oh my! Have no fear, I've thought of all of these things. If you know me or just have met me, then you know that I am a detail person. Getting down to the nitty gritty is my jam y'all! I've compiled all of my best tips and tricks to help make your photoshoot prep simple and stress free. By the end of this bog post, you should be able to easily throw together some coordinating outfits and then have some relaxing time (pistachios optional)!

I don't know about you guys, but when I think of family photos my mind immediately wanders to the olden days of matching outfits and hilarious poses like the human body stack or the stare into space collages. That is something you will never experience here at Authentically Arianna Photography (unless you seriously request it LOL). I strive to always put my best foot forward and deliver images with my consistent style and vision. I am here to provide every tip and trick so that your images are exactly what you would expect from an Authentically Arianna image! Let's jump right in to my top 3 tips for preparing for the session

  1. Avoid too much matching and think more about coordination and color palettes! I have compiled my top favorite color palettes for Summer and Spring in this Pinterest board and Fall and Winter in this Pinterest board. When your portrait session involves multiple people, families, couples, even maternity sessions, you'll want to mix colors from a palette all over each person. Let's say you are wearing a peach dress with a light blue necklace and shoes. If you are doing a couples session, your partner could wear a light blue shirt with light brown pants and brown shoes. Having colors that tie you together makes your look cohesive and makes images overall more interesting to look at.

  2. Steer clear of too casual, you want memories of your best selves! When choosing clothing pieces to wear, think about how these images will look framed on your walls. You want to put your best foot forward for a photoshoot! This is your time to shine, my friends. Feel free to browse through all of my Pinterest boards to find some outfit inspiration! I've compiled my favorite looks and styles that I know will look great in images. I hate to see otherwise great images ruined by Crocs (if you know me, you know I live in my cheetah Crocs) or a big ole Nike symbol on a tshirt.

  3. When doing your hair and makeup, try to keep it simple! I love a good smoky eye, but on camera it will most likely look like you've just been in a street fight. Not a cute look. Think more of enhancing your natural beauty! Keep this mantra for your hair as well. We all know our own hair the best and know how it will look best on us. Some simple hair accessories will go long ways! Here's a Pinterest board of some inspiration and tips I've found. Really try to bring out your personality in your look so that we can capture your authentic self!

Don't forget, you are beautiful and we want these images to capture your natural beauty! Now that you know my best tips and have links right into my own creative brain's ideas, get out there and find the perfect outfits

I can't wait to see your look at our session!

Until next time,
