Something that I often forget when talking with clients is that they (most of the time) don't have the photography education that I do. This means that when I mention terms like photography styles, lighting, aperture, etc. they look at me like I am crazy. So today I am taking a quick dive into a description that you'll see all over my website and media - bright and vibrant lifestyle photographer.

"Photography is an art,

there is no wrong way

to shoot or edit, but there

are many unique approaches"

When asked to describe myself and who I am as a photographer and editor, bright and vibrant lifestyle covers that quite well. Let's break those terms down one by one. Bright in photography terms means that I looove natural light and prefer to keep my images bright as opposed to moody and dark. This makes a light, soft touch to my finished product.

Vibrant refers to my color work. I stay as true to color as possible in my images while also making sure they are colorful and have sharp contrast. I steer clear of making it look like a cartoon and just ensure that they beauty of the colors is showing. A popular style of editing right now is called moody and they tend to desaturate some colors for a dramatic pop of others. I don't think that this is the best approach for the image I want and would rather all of the colors be vibrant.

Lifestyle refers to the fact that I don't do studio portraits. I don't have backdrops, props, or flash or even an indoor space dedicated solely to my image work. I have absolutely nothing against photographers who work in studios, in fact, I envy that they can continue to work when it's storming, snowing, or grossly hot out. Personally, I just prefer to use nature, buildings, and life as my background and foreground for images.

Almost every photographer you come across will have a "style" and when you hire them, you will get images in their "style." It's important to know this so that you can hire a photographer whose images fit a style that you like! Photography is an art, there is no wrong way to shoot or edit, but there are many unique approaches. I hope this helped you understand what to expect from images from me :)

Until next time,
